I've been lucky in reading lots of children's books as a reviewer for the regrettably now defunct Carousel magazine. I would have definitely given Max Counts to a Million a great review. There are quite a few books out there featuring the pandemic, but this one is like a breath of fresh air. A child's perspective is often needed to encourage adults look at things differently.
We've all dealt with the pandemic in our way, being able to understand why sacrifices had to be made for the greater good. However, to a child these things aren't always that simple and i think this book will go some way to helping older readers perhaps begin to appreciate a different perspective, and also allow children to relax and have a bit of a laugh at all they have been through these past two years.
