From the cover and the blurb I assumed that this would not be for me - in fact maybe not even aimed at adults at all. I was soon disabused of this. This is a tremendously fun book, although of course it also has the potential to be harrowing and sad. It’s always fun to read about adults trying to explain something to an intelligent child with a fertile imagination … I loved the father trying to explain about the ‘all encompassing’ meaning of the prefix pan only for Max to come up with a whole list of words beginning with pan- which don’t have that meaning at all. I really look forward to the chance of reading this. I imagine both children and adults will both love it
