I havent read much of young adult stories since I was one myself but with a 7 year old I loved the first impressions and thought it would be a great story for him to read.
The plot is so clever and set within lockdown featuring experiences that we all went through ourselves so is very relatable. As the story was told by a 8 year old I found it humorous in parts and wondered how much the content would resonate with my son.
The book was very easy to read in fact I read it very quickly and liked the illustrations which would be engaging to children.
Max the child in the centre of the story is so likeable and just a normal child doing his best in a very strange situation. Max was surrounded by a very down to earth set of characters with his Mum, his Dad an ENT doctor and his Granddad. Neighbours featured and of course his school friends. You would think a book set essentially just at home could be tedious but of course the subject matter is anything but! I loved it.
