A touching view of the pandemic.
Max Counts to a Million is a touching story set during the recent pandemic. Really well written in a way that is enjoyable for children, though I think it a great read for all ages. Clear and age appropriate language. In the main the story is upbeat, but there are some very touching scenes, including a family member becoming ill with corona virus. It brings home just how much our children had to cope with during the pandemic with lockdown, worry of family members becoming ill, missing school friends, etc.
The cover is bright and interesting enough to tempt children to read the book. The typeface is large enough to be easily read, without being off putting by being too dense.
I will be encouraging my grandchildren to read this book, as it may help them to talk about how they felt at that time.
Overall I can see this book being a hit, and deservedly so.
