As a mum to a 9 year old, this book was a reminder of our time spent together in lockdown over the past two years. Everything from strange and scary trips to the shop for food, through to the schools closing and the 'joys' of home learning are covered.

I enjoyed reading this book, even though it's aimed at a much younger audience than me. Seeing the pandemic through Max's eyes, reminded me how much our children have had to cope with and their resilience in doing so.

Whilst I've now read a couple of books which have been set during covid times, this is the first book I've read which has been aimed specifically at children. I think it could actually be a useful book if you wanted to instigate some conversations on what children and families went through at this time.

Despite its serious nature, there is lightness and humour as Max attempts to reach his count of one million. Surely an impressive lockdown achievement!
