This book follows Max, an eight (soon to be nine!) year old, throughout the first lockdown. Faced with his school closing, missing his friends and family, and his dad having to move out, Max starts to count. And once he starts counting, he decides that he's going to count to one million.

This is a sweet, heart warming, and often funny book that looks at the first lockdown from the perspective of a child. Max is a lovable and realistic character. And I enjoyed seeing the lockdown and the pandemic from his perspective. At times this was sad, but at others it made me laugh.

This book made me think about how difficult it must have been for children throughout the lockdown, as they struggled to understand what was happening around them.

This book is perfect for children aged about 8-10, with short chapters, illustrated page borders, and a colourful and eye catching cover. It looks at the difficulty of the past couple of years in a hopeful yet realistic way. I would highly recommend it.
