This is the kind of book that I can appreciate is quite sweet, the concept is nice enough and it's culturally relevant. The cover is bright and therefore ideal for children and the layout of the text is easy to process.
Despite this, I'm not sure I can imagine the vast majority of children being interested in this book.
I think when tackling the pandemic it's always going to be difficult to grasp a child's attention, they've just lived through the pandemic (and are still living through it) and so they're already bored of hearing about it. For this narrative to appeal to kids, the writing would have to be exceptionally impressive and child-centred, and I just don't think this book hits that mark.
Overall, I'm not sure any child is going to be that interested in another (fictional) child counting to a million.
Also this isn't a formal criticism but the obsession with the news reader was a bit odd.
