Max counts to a million
This is a great book for younger readers, my son is 7 and it would be suitable for him. This book is written from Max’s point of view, it’s almost like a diary where he stops and questions himself or points things out to the reader. The story starts at the start of the coronavirus pandemic and explains what it is and how the world is slowly changing it would be a great book for children to have read in the beginning so they understood a bit better what was going on, but back then no one knew what was going on. It explains everything about how the world was changing from panic buying to schools closing and lockdown it also shows how adults acted differently to try and stop children from worrying. It’s a story that a lot of children will be able to relate to as they have lived through the pandemic and know how strange it was but it’s not written in a negative depressing way. A lighthearted read that children will enjoy, the main character, a lot of children will be able to relate to in terms of misbehaving and how Max was feeling not only with the pandemic but with also being a child. I give it 5 stars as it is written for a child and I think children will absolutely love this story.
