This book, as you can guess from the title, is about a boy called Max who counts to a million. This book is set during the first lockdown. Max is 8, he lives with his Mum and Dad, although his Dad is living in a hotel for part of the story as he works for the NHS so is living away from home to protect the rest of his family from covid. Max decides to start counting to a million when he gets sent to his room and told to count to one hundred to calm down.
I decided to read this book with my eight year old son. Reading it with him really brought back memories of lockdown and home schooling. My son laughed out loud at several points in the story (he thought the description of the floppy haired Prime minister was hilarious). The author did great job of writing as an eight year old child, I could imagine my own eight year old doing a lot of the same things as Max. Would definitely recommend this book to other families with children the same age.
