I absolutely loved this book and can’t wait until my daughter is old enough for us to read it together. It really captured the mood and experiences of 2020 and I’m sure will resonate with other families as much as mine. Max is a likeable and believable character and I’m sure my daughter is going to enjoy staying his experience of the pandemic. The book is a good way to think about big numbers but isn’t over the top in being educational, it’s just a gripping story that you want to get to the end of. I’d definitely recommend it for children who experienced lockdown and also in the future those who want to get a sense of what it was like.
The decorations throughout the book, of numbers, are a nice touch and mean it wouldn’t be an intimidating read for a fairly new reader.
This book has made me want to look into what else the author has written and try his adult books.
