I thought this book was lovely and very well-written for a children’s book. Max comes across as a very sweet and good-hearted young boy who gets through the pandemic by counting to a million. I think the book does a very good job of educating younger people about what happened during the pandemic, and how troubling it was for our younger generation, as well as the older ones.

I found myself getting quite sad at parts (e.g Max’s dad having to move out to work night shifts at the hospital) and unfortunately this was a harsh reminder of what life was like only a year ago. I think that this book will inspire kids to do similar things for a charity, and I wouldn’t be surprised if some of them attempt to count to a million themselves! I also found myself wondering whether or not this was based on a true story.. either way, I loved it, and think it will be very popular with kids!
