Maybe I should have given this book to my 9 year old son to read first and then asked him what he thought. Personally I found this book to be a bit boring. Saying that though, all the topics this book touched on were accurate. And a mirror image of many families up and down the country and world wide.
Covid was tough for everyone, and Max experienced what it was like not having is dad there all the time as he was a doctor helping out on the front line, and having to cope with not being able to go to school and se his friends, but instead having to tackle online learning. One of Max's coping mechanisms was counting. Initially started to get back at his mum, and then it took on a world of it's own. Soon enough Max was being sponsored to count to a million and all the money raised would go to the charities helping out with the pandemic.
Overall a good read, perfect for the younger reader
