Not going to lie, I was thrilled when I found out I won this book. I thought it was going to be a fun, joyful read, but I just found it boring.

Maybe it's because I'm twenty-three, and way out of this book's reader demographic, but I just felt bored by the whole book. There wasn't a time when I thought Max wasn't going to reach his goal of counting to a million, even if the author did try to make the reader question his dedication at the halfway point. I knew what was going to happen, so I found myself lacking the motivation to actually pick up the book and read it.

I also found it super weird to be reading a book about the lockdown, it made me feel uncomfortable in a way. I guess I'm just not ready for lockdown focused books just yet, even if the lockdown laws have relaxed a hell of a lot and things have gone back to quote-unquote normal. It just made me feel uneasy? But obviously, that's no fault of the author. I just think I'll pass on the middle grade for a while, maybe stick to some nonfiction.
