This is the first time I’ve come across the author and would like to read more of his work. Especially the adult books he has written. First seeing the cover and the blurb of this book, felt like it would be a refreshing read to what I would normally select. As soon as I started reading that feeling continued. I liked the writing style and the sense that Max was speaking to me in a conversational tone. As I read along I could pick up when Max was being serious and when it was appropriate to have a chuckle. I liked that this book was giving the nine-year-old perspective on what it would be like for them during a pandemic and needing something to focus their mind on to distract from all the worries during this time. I think it is very relatable to a child and their family experience of this time. Reading this as an adult I felt that it was an enjoyable experience.
