As a retired primary school teacher I very much enjoyed reading this book and finished it in just one afternoon! This is a perfect story to be either read by, or read aloud to, a class of year 3 children, who are the same age as Max. The author brilliantly captured the understanding of adult 'problems' naively being (mis-) interpreted through a child's eye. It addresses the start of the Covid-19 pandemic and gives a refreshingly new prospective of living through this from a child's point of view. The counting challenge was an interesting concept, but, for me, the most interesting aspect was stopping to think about how the Pandemic actually effected children - especially the interaction with their education. This book is a must for every Junior school's library so that future year groups will be able to access an age appropriate understanding of how Covid-19 temporarily changed and challenged the lives of children.
