What a poignant and lovely book. I did not expect a childrens book to hit so hard and make me cry in parts.
Although Max is a made up character everything that happened to him has happened to millions of children around the world.
I remember crying the day that my childrens school closed for the first lockdown. Not because I had to teach them (he he) although that was part of it. But because I knew what they would be missing out on and we didn’t know how long it would go on for.
Even now as things start to get back to normal the affects of the last 2 years are long and far reaching.
I loved max and how open and realistic he is. Kids do get bored. And kids do understand more of what is happening than we give them credit for.
I love the idea that max raised all that money for charity just by counting to a million. What a lovely story with an important message for future generations.
