This was a great book for all children who have experienced living through the Covid 19 pandemic. It starts in the early stages of the pandemic when parents are having "serious talks" when children are not supposed to be listening. The books describes exactly how it felt in millions of households around the world as the pandemic struck.
Making Max's Dad a doctor gives the book an added dimension as the world is seen through the eyes of somebody working in the NHS as well as a child
As everybody begins to get more worried , Mum struggles to get the things she normally buys when out shopping ,it is noticeable that Max himself becomes unsure of what is happening in the world around him as he narrates his story
As all the shops and schools and everything in normal life ends and the world becomes incredibly strange Max then decides he will do something quite ordinary, He will count , to a million !
