This quick and sympathetic look at lockdown will be well received and appreciated by young people and their parents looking for ways to address, remember, and still think about the previous couple of years. It is warm, heartfelt, and thoughtfully written to address and comfort young readers who themselves will have seen and dealt with their own experiences of the pandemic. Sincerely, the inclusion of the Smarties reference and the free tube that Nosy Crow supplied me with the book have nothing to do with my praise for it. Max is a fantastic character; his narration style and the humorous asides of his inner dialogue had me laughing aloud as I read this. Additionally, many of the events and interactions he discusses—both in school and later at home with his family—will be really relatable to readers. A must read for younger readers!
