Wow!I remember reading this first look a couple of years ago when it was written as a short story. It raised a smile then, and it raised a smile now, reading it again.

Max has discovered that he enjoys magic tricks, even though they do not always turn out as he planned, much to the dismay of his family! But Max will not let a few mishaps deter him, and is keen to learn as many magic tricks as possible. Why? Because he has plans and goals. Cheeky chappy that Max is, he has the determination to keep trying - if something does not work out, he makes light of it and tries again.

And now Max embarks upon his magical adventure, taking the reader along with him.

A delightful and light-hearted story, brimming with a positive, can do attitude; encouraging the reader (or listener) to just have a go - if you get a happy outcome it can seem almost magical.

Stephen Mulhern's writing style is buoyant and cheerful, making the story a pleasure to read.

The charming illustrations perfect complements to the story - especially the 'happy family' Sunday lunch which is delightfully chaotic!

The cover is gloriously eye-catching. Fun, action, magic and a dash of chaos, clearly indicating a children's story that is going to amuse many a youngster.
