I read this to my class as an afternoon treat and they were all hooked! They loved the characters and how easily they were able to relate to them and their situations. The children were all fully invested in the plot and every single child was hoping Max would find a way out of the dramas with the nasty bullying Bottley who always seemed to be lurking in the background.
It is not very often that a book appeals to both the girls and the boys in the class and that both male and females are equally enthralled in a fiction book, but like with David Walliams and Tom Fletcher and even Roald Dahl, Stephen Mulhern seems to have managed to grab and keep their attention. Some of the class have already asked our school librarian for more of Stephen Mulhern's books. Will definitely be looking out for future books realeased by him to share with the children.
