Straight from the beginning we are drawn into the life of an interesting boy - Max Mullers and his family, friends and likes and dislikes. This is written from Max’s point of view and you feel immediately interested in him, which for someone that likes to be the centre of attention and perform for others this is exactly where Max wants you!
It is a well written story which I think is mostly aimed at 7- 11 year olds, because of the topic and the story. The comic illustrations throughout add a sense of fun and I did enjoy the illustrations of Max as I thought they looked like a child version of Stephen Mulhern! There is a problem/theme to the story and that is bullying and both Max and his dad are on the receiving end of this, I didn’t particularly like how this was resolved and the unbelievable aspect at the end of the story I thought was a bit silly but I’m not 7-11 years old!
