This was a really good fun book I read this with my niece. We both liked the front cover so this draws you in straight away. We loved the illustrations inside she loved to see the pictures as this really adds to the book and makes the characters seem more real.
We liked max and how he was trying to beat the bully's with a little bit of magic. For bedtime reading this book was perfect and every night she wanted to read more and more. We would definitely read more from this if it became a series. I think most children in the age range it suggests which is 7 to 10 would enjoy it and who does not love a little magic.
The words are nice and big and easy to read so if they are reading by themselves we found this does help. And the chapters are not too long which if they don't do a lot of reading is also a bonus.
I think this would make a perfect Christmas or birthday gift for young children and a nice book to read together. From an adults perspective I also enjoyed it.
