Disappointing

It started very well. I got hooked up from the very start, something that does not happen that often, especially to someone like me. I

I loved the style at the beginning. In fact, I loved it so much that I even highlighted some paragraphs because the style was impressive. The use of metaphors and the language was a delight.

But, unfortunately, that was not to last. Alas.

As soon as the world complicated and the plot thickened, the style fell of the cliff and the characters became cliches. I lost interest and I had to force myself through the second half of the book.

And finally, the end was probably (actually, quite surely) the most disappointing part, I am afraid. What looked like a standalone, was suddenly, without any need, and for sure without any real explanation, made part of a series of novels. So the open end really frustrated me without giving me the incentive to read the sequel.
