At first, I didn't think I would particularly enjoy this book. The cover didn't particularly draw me in and having been more into darker, thriller type books, I thought I wouldn't be very interested.
However, as the book built up momentum, I found myself becoming more and more attached to Fern, Ollie and Annwn.
The characters are so wonderfully real, and the concept of insecurity and inadequacy is captured so well.
More than fantasy, this book encapsulates the human emotion - how we feel and think, our experiences, how we are governed by an internal compass. That compass can be guided to change directions, but completely blocking it from turning in any one direction can have horrible consequences.
