A really interesting opening very fast pace and sets the scene for the first chapter. I like the descriptions of the surroundings and the use of pathetic fallacy.
The character is slightly basic as she is portrayed as the outcast, alone reject whilst her brother is the popular good-looking guy. However, I think the way the author has done it is good as it will incorporate well into the story.
The plot is not too confusing as I was able to pick up slightly what is going on which is good and I hope it further develops itself. A few of the words are slightly complicated to prounonce so maybe having something which shows how to pronounce it will be good.
All in all I really enjoyed it as it brings together fantasy and adventure as well as having a lot of myster. The way the texts are portrayed is great as it allows for more suspense and aniticapation into what it to occur.
