With just the first look this book looks intriguing. I would be interested in seeing how the characters develop and the dream world of Annwn. The concept itself is intriguing, having another world connected to our own through dreams. Naturally, such a world would need protectors for the dreamers from nightmares and other potential dangers. The story has the ring of a hopeful tale to it, and is definitely something that the world needs right now.
One of the most striking features right off the bat is Fern's character, our protagonist. Fern, when introduced at her mother's grave, leads the reader to ask many questions, soon answered. It is evident there is more depth to this character than just a typical teenage girl, as the author quickly establishes discord between Fern and her brother, as well with other people around her. In only a short excerpt Holly Race has shown the promise of what I am sure will be a fantastic novel.
