Fern is an outcast, even among her own family members. Her mother died when she was a teenager, her twin brother is a bully among the neighbourhood kids, and that same brother has always been her father's favourite, leaving Fern with no one to trust except herself. Fern has always been teased because of her vivid red features. From schoolchildren to strangers on the tube. This storey took me a while to get into because I found it difficult to see the ever-changing Annwn, with its strange laws and monsters, at first; and, to be frank, I was a little uneasy about how close Fern's friendship with her brother was to my own. However, once it got started, it was brilliant. Annwn's universe is created by generations of dreamers who bring it to life through the force of their imaginations. I loved the plot and the fast-action, as Fern and the other knights have to uncover what this person is after, and why it is linked to the death of her mum, fifteen years ago.
