Fern, the main character, i suppose, turns 15, she discovers Annwn, a place of nightmarish dreams.
She longs to become a knight, as her mother did, giving the plot a 'coming of age' feel, at times.

However, the book took a bit of getting used to, as an awful lot went in, at once, and Annwn was a little chaotic, with many odd rules and creatures.

Then, there are the descriptions of family, and relationships, all if which are shockingly relatable and realistic!

So, once past the initial confusion, it is a great read!

Annwn is a world created and up held by the dreamers.
But Fern doesn't quite see this, at first, lending to the modern Hunger-games feel.

There is action, friendship, family and bloody brutality.

Hints of urban mob and gang violence seep through, giving the book a realistic 'parallel universe' dynamic.

In summary, Midnight's Twins is a thrilling and gloriously dark novel, which had my heart racing, from start to finish!
