the cover is very pretty and I would buy the book just for it again if I could. I really like the world-building of this book. the fantasy and magic are intriguing and like a breath of fresh air and the detailing very much draws you in but there is a lot more potential for it to be better in the next books . it's a good start to the beginning of a trilogy and I'm looking forward to reading the next books. it was a good world to delve into and escape to and it was easy to follow. I personally found it very gripping. The main character Fern is slightly annoying but she's working her way into becoming strong so I can't fault her for some of her decisions. she's also relatable along with her brother Ollie. Although this is a fantasy book, the experiences they have gone through are very real in this world. I'm looking forward to seeing more of her character development.
