Fantasy is not my usual choice but the synopsis for this book sounded intriguing. I loved the setting, the fantasy being the dream world of London. I think grounding it in the real world helped me to engage with the fantasy world.

Fern and Ollie are twins whose mother died when they were only a few months old. Fern feels alone and out of place with her red eyes and later her burn. She sees her brother as her father’s favourite and popular at school.

When the turn 15 they learn that their mother did not die in her sleep as they have been told, they learn that they can travel to the dream world and, like their mother, are entrusted to keep dreamers safe.

The book is a tale of self discovery, of learning that the fears we all have are similar to those around us...and that they are essential to making us human.

The story is vivid and engaging and I cannot wait for the next instalment.
