A combination of red and flowers should sound happy and pretty but, having glimpsed the description of the story, I found the cover menacing. Most readers will already know something about the abominable cruelty Dr Josef Mengele showed to imprisoned twins during World War 2. The prospect of hearing the story from the perspective of one of these tortured children is daunting but I'm already captivated by the author's poetic phrasing and atmospheric scene-setting.
