Beautiful prose that makes you feel the story. The cover is pretty and perhaps shows that the story will concentrate on the separation of these two girls rather than the overall devastation caused by WWII. I'm not accustomed to reading about WWII however, the red ribbon which I have just started reading allows me to see, reading individuals stories is easier to deal with than the mass atrocities. Pearl seems very grown up for her age and certainly the thinker of the two twins, this contrasts the wild, impulsive character of Stasha. I presume this is what will come to light in the 'Zoo' they have been captured in. I can only hope that Stasha the brave can save Pearl in doing so, see she is complete on her own.
