It sounded like something i normally wouldn't pick up, too harrowing and sad. But it also reminded me a little of another World War 2 era novel The Book Thief by Markus Zusak, it was sad but it had me hooked throughout.
On reading the extract i think i will definitely want to read more, the characters have youthful innocence in a world that is making them grow up far too fast, not understanding what is going on around them, why some people are getting treated differently.
Even though this is based on historic fact it is scary how it applies today with the way President Trump seems to be treating people in his own country. Lessons from the past seem to be soon forgotten by some.
