This book was one of the most haunting and harrowing books that I have read, that made you feel intense, real emotion! This book is told through the eyes of two 12 year old twins - Stasha and Pearl - in a concentration camp during the Holocaust and is perhaps even more haunting due to the age of the young children. Each chapter bounces between the perspective of the two twins which keeps the book moving at a fast pace and helps you to see scenarios in a different light. This book wasn't an easy read, as both twins are subjected to unspeakable horrors and this book grapples with how to cope with these terrible acts. When one of the twins goes missing and the other still has hope, your heart will break all over again. This book is heartbreaking yet powerful!
