I have to be honest here. The story itself appeared very promising, if not extremely sad and tough to read: twin sisters plunged into the horrors of auschwitz after already having seen the horrors of war and losing their father they are then torn from their remaining family, starved, tortured physically and mentally then wrenched apart with one left searching for the other in a war ravished homeland.

I must say here that this isn't my usual genre and whilst I really liked the idea of the pictures, the writing style was not my cup of tea. It seemed fragmented and slow throughout and I really struggled to finish the book. The ending seemed too good to be true and didn't appear to match the pages that had preceded it.

As I said, maybe it's just because it's not my usual genre or writing style and I'm sure many people would really enjoy this read.
