This is not the type of book I would normally choose to read as there wasn't much action, However, it is beautifully and sensitively written.
The sequel to The Dress, Ella has turned the dress shop which her mother, Fabia, previously owned in York into a book shop. Three women in the story are at a critical point in their lives. They are helped to resolve their problems with gentle help from superstitions and spells and with reference to the book of dreams inspired by Miss Mary, a midwife/witch who lived on the North Yorkshire moors in the seventeenth century.
This is the second book I've read about a book shop in York in the last month. To be honest I much preferred Lost For Words and it is more memorable.
