I received Anton du Beke's debut novel One Enchanted Evening in a subscription box. This is the sequel. I HAD to buy this when I finished the first one because Anton du Beke was such a surprisingly wonderful writer and he had created such a vivid Downton Abbey-esque world of the Buckingham Hotel but with so much intrigue and scandal. This book continues the story of those characters and my god, it is just as enthralling as the first instalment. You HAVE to read this series.

Set in an interesting and tense period of time pre-war in 1937, in this second novel of the series we see the continuation of life at the Buckingham Hotel with more secrets, more scandal, a new King on the throne and trouble in paradise (maybe!) for principal dancer Raymond de Guise and chambermaid Nancy Nettleton. We meet Frank, Nancy's younger brother and other new characters passing through the hotel, and see a huge transformation in previously troubled New York debutante Vivienne Edgerton and Ray's brother Artie Cohen. I simply cannot wait for the third installment!!
