Absolutely loved it !!! First, I am a big fan of historical fiction and I love to be swept away to another time and place. Moonlight over Mayfair definitely does that. Whether in the Grand Ballroom or in the staff quarters of the Buckingham Hotel. The story is set in 1937, between the two wars. Think Downton Abbey, Upstairs Downstairs, Mr Selfridges and The Paradise.
After reading the first book by Anton Du Beke, and loving it, I really wanted to read his second novel, and I wasn’t disappointed. I’m so excited to read there will be a third in the series. Even if you haven’t read the first novel, Moonlight over Mayfair is complete as a stand alone story. There are reoccurring characters but you wouldn’t be aware of that if this was your first Anton Du Beke book.
With memorable characters like Nancy the chambermaid and
Vivienne Edgerton and lots of love, lies, secrets and even a thief, this novel has you from page one all the way to the end.
