If you love a bit of moving family drama, then this one’s for you! Looking at fidelity, domestic abuse, grief and pregnancy, this is a moving novel with (shock!) mothers and daughters at its heart.

These stories which centre around one family can always be a bit hit and miss for me, having read some incredibly dull ones before, but I thought this one was brilliant and I was completely invested in these characters and their outcomes. It does need quite a few TWs as it looks at difficulty getting pregnant and domestic violence/gaslighting, but it’s done in a thoughtful and tender way.

Whilst the gaslighting and eventual abuse in one relationship had me seething and occasionally wanting to throw the book across the room where I’d get so angry, there is also plenty of joy to the novel - like finding love later in life, and sisters who’ll do anything for each other. It’s very much about the characters and their experiences although expect a few surprises along the way!

And if I didn’t already love it enough, the location was gorgeous and not too far from me - I got strangely excited about the fact that a character gives birth at the same hospital I did 🤣 Don’t you love it when you recognise places in books?!

A really lovely read all around!
