From the moment I took in the attractive appearance of this book, I wanted to read it and I wasn't disappointed. It proved to be a heartwarming tale, full of appealing characters. The comfortable lives of two sisters are shaken up when it appears that their beloved widowed mother has found a new love. As the story unfolds, family secrets begin to emerge and the relationships between the characters start to shift. Although written in a gentle and appealing way, there are some serious issues of domestic violence, coercion, control and rape within the story, all of which, in my view, were well handled. I have not seen or read any of this author's books previously but this book was interesting enough to make me want to seek out more. Overall, a really engrossing read which certainly kept me turning the pages and I was reluctant to put it down.
