The cover is enigmatic and doesn't say much about what to expect, but the swirls around the man's head give both an impression of drowning and a claustrophobic feeling which I think may develop as a bit of a theme as Jeff becomes more trapped in the situation described in the synopsis.

There is enough set up for the character of Jeff in the opening chapters to make me want to read on. I am also intrigued about the narrator. Why has the author chosen an author as narrator? Why have a named character as narrator of someone elses story? Will the narrator be drawn into the narrative itself, or remain an onlooker? Many questions, which is a good reason to read on!
