Should he have saved him?

A familiar name - Jeff, is called at the airport and it turns out it was a former classmate. As both men recognise each other Jeff then suggests a catch up in the first class lounge. Here he retells a story of how he saved the life of a drowned man.
I wasn’t particularly gripped with the characters in this so not a book for me.
