A lot of hype for something not all that good

After reading a lot of hype and positive reviews around this, I just didn't get it. This was a relatively short book, but it seemed to take me forever to get through. I think the idea behind it is excellent but the actual executing of it was a little slow. The final line was the only part that was actually gripping.

The story is centered around a character called Jeff, who reveals a story to an acquaintance who he happens to bump into in the airport when his flight is delayed. We as the reader are in a similar position to the person who Jeff is telling the story to, in that we are an audience to the storyteller.

Jeff saved a man's life and little did he know that in doing this, he would change the course of his life and shape his future. The story is good in that at the end some of the story it turns out is not entirely true and we are left feeling shocked, but it takes the whole of the book to get to that one line and if I am being honest, it just wasn't worth it.
