This book starts in an airport.
Jeff Cook is checking in when he notices someone looking at him and then saying his name. It turns out to be someone who had gone to the same university, they hadn’t been friends even though Jeff seems to think they were.
He invited the friend, a struggling author, to go with him to the first class lounge to wait for their flight which had been delayed.
After getting drinks Jeff begins to tell his friend about himself and the way he had saved someone’s life when he was drowning. He seems to keep trying to convince himself that he is a good person, almost that he doubted the fact.
He wanted to find out more about the person he saved and after finding out he name and address from the life guards, went looking for him. He turned out to be the owner of an art gallery and very well off.
I found the book dragged on, didn’t hold my interest or made me care about the people, I just thought that Jeff was overly full of himself.
