Told in the manner of one person sharing their life story with another, this is a fascinating and perhaps shocking or disturbing novel of how a traumatic event one day, took hold of the course of a life.

Two people who knew each other from school days happen to meet at an airport whilst waiting for the same delayed flight. To pass the time they go for drinks in the first class lounge. Whilst there Jeff begins to tell the story of his life, it becomes clear that this is most likely the first time he has shared the full extent of this. After saving someone's life on a beach one day, Jeff finds it hard to let go, he feels a connection to that person, he is not after a reward or even thanks but just a need to find out more about him. It appears that Francis, who he saved from drowning, doesn't recognise him, so after watching him for sometime, Jeff applies for employment in his gallery. As the two men become closer Jeff becomes aware that everything that happens now, only happens because he saved Francis.

I enjoyed reading this book, it is quite a short book split into lots of chapters, so easy to read in small bits, but once you start it is hard to put down!
