Mouth to mouth tells the story between two old acquaintances meeting at an airport. Jeff then tells his story involving the saving of a drowning man. Once I started reading I found that I couldn’t stop and finished within a single sitting.

The writing was fast paced, and forced me to continue reading. There is a sense of foreboding throughout, that I felt possibly wasn’t explored enough. I kept waiting for the pin to drop and it didn’t until the last sentence and even then I was left wanting more of a twist. This may just be because the writing was so good that the underlying of suspense left me waiting and I wanted more than and ending sentence to end it. However, saying this I did like the twist just wish it had been expanded and explored on slightly more.

I personally found the narrator, who Jeff tells his story to in the airport, to be slightly unlikeable however this didn’t take away from the story. If anything it added to it.

I got the sense that the narrator believes himself to be a perspective person, shown when he watches an interaction between an airport worker and a customer. However throughout Jeff’s story I found his opinions and interaction with Jeff to shed a biased account of the story. This has added another layer and depth as we’re being given a story told by one person then filtered through another, which does assist in our wondering of whether we are given the whole and true story.
