I understood this book to be more of a mystery novel than I felt it actually portrayed in the end.
Having said that, although it was not quite what I expected, it was still an enjoyable quick read. It's a short book with short chapter which helps to make it an easy read.
The whole story is told through one conversation, where the narrator tells of the time he saved a man from drowning on the beach, and how it changed his life in a strange way.
None of the characters in the book are particularly loveable, but it's easy to follow the story and understand the feelings that they have.
I enjoyed the ending of the story, as it didn't go as I had expected and added the twist that was needed to end the book. Overall im glad to have read it and would read more of this authors work in the future.
