I loved the cover of this book and was eagerly anticipating the First Impression. I am not sure that it has fulfilled my hopes for the book. The biggest issue I have is the chapters told from Kalala's point of view. I appreciate the author's intent to give us a better sense of the person by "mimicking" thought and speech patterns but it feels uncomfortable and unnatural on the page. The sections told from the Peacock's point of view are much easier to read and have a good narrative flow.

I am very definitely on the fence with this one and I really want it to be a wonderful tale to match the cover.
