Wow...just...wow! I devoured this book!
Heidi & Jason, a married couple who were brought together by tragedy and loss of their own respective children. Heidi's daughter murdered, and Jason's son missing, they doggedly pursue any lead that could end up in finding Jason's son.
When Heidi spots a dead ringer for the missing Barney at an off licence, she immediately alerts Jason, feeling sure that she has the right boy and that he'd recognise his own son...wouldn't he?
I became very frustrated with Heidi at times. Her secretive behaviour and increasingly erratic tendencies which cause her to lose her job make her increasingly unreliable to her husband and the police. Then her actions take her to a more dangerous place than she could imagine.
This is a belter of a debut by O'Connor and I was left totally stunned by the ending. Completely and utterly surprised, I didn't see it coming!
