More compelling than I wanted it to be
This book gripped me, but I didn't want it to. I didn't like any of the characters much, especially not the broken, selfish, obsessive Heidi with the loose knicker elastic and morals. The FLO couldn't keep it in his pants either. It really was a freak show from start to finish.
But in amongst it all was the boy. Always about the boy. How wouldn't you recognise your own child? The best place was with his parents. Wasn't it?
It questions the meaning of parenthood and has a superb twist at the end.
It was written very well, I was drawn into the story almost immediately. Any sexual content was brief (though I'd have preferred there to be none at all) and disjointed.
Overall a good, quick read.
